Welcome to my blog. In 2011 I'm going to run 1000 miles for charity, including the Brighton marathon in April, the BUPA London 10000 in May, and a couple of other races yet to be decided.
The charities I'm raising money for are Practical Action and CLIC Sargent. I'll be writing more about why I chose those two charities in the weeks to come, but today's there's an article in the Independent on Sunday which gives a really great example of the kind of work Practical Action do.
I've already started my marathon training - I'm in the third week of an 18 week plan. I'm using one of Hal Higdon's training plans - I found these on the web when I first started running three years ago and found them easy to understand, easy to use and, most importantly, they work for me.
So far training is going well, in spite of the unusually cold December weather - I've managed to get out running on the snow and have been making the most of the Christmas holidays to catch up on some lost mileage. Hopefully I'll be just as successful once the mileometer starts ticking for the 1000 mile challenge on 1st January 2011.
